OVERVIEW

The Gandhi Study Circle is an initiative of the University of Delhi and the Zakir Husain Delhi College to spread the message of Mahatma Gandhi especially among the youth and students. The society seeks to discover the relevance of Gandhi’s philosophy, especially in the contemporary Indian scenario.  The society aims to bring within its fold the various socio-political and economic issues that plague our country today. In the last few years, the society has organised a number of activities, campaigns and events such as – quiz, debates, art exhibition, round table, street play, public lectures, national seminars, international conferences to familiarise students with Gandhian values and ethics. One of the significant initiatives at bringing Gandhi closer to the youth has been the introduction of “Charkha Spinning Classes and Mind and Stress Management Classes. From 2020, The Distinguished Webinar Series on ‘Gandhi’s Legacy for our Time’ has witnessed key international eminent scholars – Prof. Akeel Bilgrami, Prof. Faisal Devji, Prof. Bhiku Parekh, Prof. Dennis Dalton, Prof. Ajay Skaria and Prof. Karuna Mantena deliberating on importance of Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy and his relevance today.
